About Heather
I’m Heather and I am a Personal Lines Customer Service Agent at EWS Insurance. I’ve been working in insurance for 8 years. My focus is on helping people navigate and learn about insurance. I help educate them on coverage, claims and policy changes in addition to writing new policies for clients. I enjoy serving people. Insurance is confusing for everyone, even those of us who work in it every day. I’m glad I can answer questions, help with claims and just unravel some of the confusion surrounding how it works. I’m always looking for ways to equip and serve others, whether they be my teammate or my client. If I can help, I will!
Professional Background
Before landing here, I was at another insurance agency in Timonium with the same role in personal lines. I have a background in fine art and visual communications. My degree is in art and I love making pottery on the wheel. My degree consists of photography, fine art and graphic design, so after college I went into graphic design as a career and kept fine art for myself as a side business. After 20 years of graphic design, the industry changed and so did my ability to work on the computer full time as an artist. I transitioned back to pottery on the wheel and built a small side business.
Then, my family had a need for a second full-time income, so I worked for a few years as Children’s Ministry Administrator for my church on staff. On the side, I still dabbled in graphic and web design.
Through connections in this role, I decided to make a career change to insurance. After the COVID pandemic, health issues, and some family transitions, I took a short break and then accepted my current job with Snyder Insurance in 2022.
Outside of Work
When I’m not working, I enjoy hiking, pottery, antiquing, baking and gardening. I also love history, travel and spending precious time with family. My daughter and I love to roller skate and go bowling together.
I live in a small town and enjoy supporting my local small businesses. One of my favorite shops is a family-owned antique store on main street called The Mercantile. And of course, any local coffee shop is my friend! I am also passionate about serving at church and supporting causes that help children or animals in need.
Fun Fact
I love to sing and enjoy music of all kinds- it was almost my second major in college. I also was a member of my church’s worship team briefly.
